Mai Lan Van is the founder and chief financial officer of “Tourism Volunteer – Volunteering for Education” (VEO) – a social enterprise that organizes tours to the difficult mountains combines charity activities such as educating highland’s children, teaching English and life skills, building libraries … With the price of several hundred thousand VND per tour plus activities providing an opportunity for tourists to do meaningful things, VEO attracted the participation and support of many young people and their parents. In the first year, VEO’s sales reached 2.3 billion, and they were expected to reach 5 billion VND at the end of 2015. The social enterprise is growing rapidly with 3,500 volunteers, according to Van.
In 2016, Van plans to expand to the West of Vietnam.
Besides, Van has a lot of experiences in organizing events for the youth, including Asia – Pacific workshops on Social Enterprise (WEF) with the participation of 100 young leaders from 40 countries of the Asia – Pacific. Van was the president of Vietnamese Student Association in UK (SVUK). Van graduated Master in International Business at City University London and Bachelor in Finance and Accounting at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.
