Mr. Don Lam
Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner – VinaCapital
Don Lam is a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of VinaCapital, a leading asset management and real estate developer in Vietnam. Mr. Lam has led the company’s growth from managing a single USD10 million fund in 2003 into a full-service investment firm managing four funds worth approximately USD1.5 billion and offering a complete range of corporate finance and real estate advisory services.
Mr. Lam is also the Chairman of the VinaCapital Foundation, a registered non-profit agency that supports heart operations for poor children, improved medical facilities in remote provinces, and a business management school initiative in Vietnam.
Previously, Mr. Lam was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Vietnam), where he led the corporate finance and management consulting practices. While there, he directed transactions that included privatization of state-owned, market entrance acquisitions by foreign companies, and the initiation of debt and equity placements for Vietnamese companies. Mr. Lam has also held management positions at Deutsche Bank and Coopers & Lybrand in Vietnam and Canada.
With nearly 20 years of experience in Vietnam’s capital markets, Mr. Lam is an authority on investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and privatizations. He is a frequent speaker at international investment seminars, including numerous World Economic Forum conferences. Mr. Lam holds a BA in Commerce and Political Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada and is a Vice Chairman of the Global Agenda Council of Southeast Asia.
