Since 2013, while studying abroad in New Zealand, the girl from Hue – Nguyen Thi Cam Van imported products made by Vietnam’s people with disabilities to sell at the weekend markets in New Zealand, then transfers funds to support disabled people in Vietnam. HandiKit is the third social projects of Van to this disabled community, with the aim of using technology to support their lives.
Van operates a group including young people who is good at technology, electronics, biomedical and mechanical engineering, which is testing the product in hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City while awaiting approval from the Ministry of Health. The HandiKit’s innovation initiative has received support with 35 thousand Euros from the Government of Finland and Vietnam.
She hopes that HandiKit will receive another 100 thousand Euros from the Government of Finland to develop the devices. Van graduated Master of Start-up Social Business at Otago University, New Zealand.
