Mrs. Phương Nga, who was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on September 12, 2011, has become the first female deputy foreign minister in Vietnam since 1975. From November 2014, she has been the ambassador and permanent representative of Vietnam at the United Nations (UN).
In 2016, Mrs Nga and the Vietnamese delegates at the UN had a lot of positive activities, especially the foreign affairs of the UN, such as the 26th meeting of the countries being members of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982.
She graduated in International Journalism at the Moscow State University in 1987. She speaks fluent English, French and Russian. Since November 1988, she has been through many positions at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as an Associate of the Press and Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Press Officer of the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand, and Deputy Director of the Press and Information Department. In November 2004, she was appointed Counselor to the Embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg .
In August 2009, she worked as Director of Information and Press Department and Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
